hank You for visiting our site and wanting to know more about Us. We are Eric and Amanda Hudgins. We have Three Wonderful Childrem, Brandon, Dawson, and Gabby. Amanda works in Medicine, I am in Architecture, and all of our kids are school age. Unfortunately, we are not able to stay home with our Doxies 24/7. If we had the choice we would, but the high maintence of Kids and Doxies does not allow that in the 21st Century! Anyway, we started out just like any small breeder. First, the Female Black and Tan Short Hair. Second, a male companion great companion. Wham, 6 doxies later, you have yourself a "Small Kennel". Trust us, there is nothing small to our operation. Don't let the size of a Dachshund fool You. They have above average intelligence, strength, and love for their owners. We found out that once you have 6 Dachshunds (4 Females, 2 Males), something interesting comes about, it's called Primal Instincts. Everything from Alpha Male/Female to extreme territorial marking. If it stands still in our house more than 20 seconds, more than likely it has been marked by Lou or Mocha. Occasionally, during the female heat cycles "We" get marked. Not gross, really, just something that a Dachsund owner must understand. All the training and disipline in the world cannot overwrite your Doxies DNA. Besides, we would never train our Doxies not to be Doxies. That would be very dull and boring. I feel that We at "The Coffee Bean Kennel" are very honest and upfront about a Dachshunds behavior. Believe it when people say "A Dachshund is not just a 'dog'." I would not be doing you or your future pup justice. I encourage all to research and understand the Dachshund Breed. Bringing these Beautiful Doxies into our family and sharing them with others has been very rewarding.
